Leadership changes at two bakery producers
Baker & Baker has appointed Graeme Williams as its new UK chief commercial officer, as Tim Ryan steps down.
Williams joined Baker & Baker in 2019 and has played a key role in nurturing the European producer’s retail relationships and driving growth across the in-store bakery category.
The move comes as his predecessor Tim Ryan takes on early retirement, following more than 30 years at the business where he helped drive key UK accounts ten-fold.
A gradual transfer of responsibilities from Ryan and Williams has taken place on the last 12 months to help a smooth transition.
Williams said he was humbled to take on the role: “I’m honoured to have been given the opportunity to lead Baker & Baker’s UK commercial team. We have a talented group of colleagues that strive to deliver for customers and I’m looking forward to delivering on our plans over the coming years.”
Williams will join Baker and Baker’s six-strong senior leadership team led by CEO John Lindsay.
Commenting on the appointment, Lindsay said: “His talent and commitment over the last five years has been evident to all, and that continuity will set us up for our next period of growth.
“Graeme already possesses deep and positive relationships with our customers, and has demonstrated his extensive leadership abilities in our commercial team during the transition period.”
Meanwhile, in fellow bakery company Silvery Tweed which focuses on cereal innovation, a new technical lead has been appointed.
With 16 years of experience in food and drink, including a stint at Silvery Tweed previously, Paul Trotter rejoins the company as its technical manager.
Trotter expressed excitement to be back with the company, saying he’s keen to focus on people: “I am particularly passionate about promoting a culture of continuous learning and development, which will ultimately lead to a more robust assurance of both quality and food safety.”
The business’s head of technical, Martin Drewery, added: “We are thrilled to welcome Paul back to the Silvery Tweed Cereals team. Paul's proven track record in technical systems development and his dedication to continuous improvement will be invaluable assets as we strive to exceed our customers’ expectations.
“I feel confident that with the addition of Paul, the technical team will play a central role in the company’s continued success and commitment to delivering exceptional value to its customers.”
